Aprostocetus aurantiacus

This wasp is found in all five of the Diplolepis rose galls, Diplolepis centifoliae, D. eglanteriae, D. mayri, D. nervosa and D. spinosissimae. So it would not be surprising to find it in the D. rosae also.

The female is 1.1-1.6mm in length with a black body, sometimes with a bluish tinge. Some yellow is present on the top of the propodium and face. The antennae are dark and have 3 funicular segments. The legs are largely dark and the post marginal vein is short. The gaster is the same length as the head and thorax.

The male is 1.1-1.5mm in length, The body is black with some yellow on the side and back of the thorax, as well as on the face. The antennae are dark with 4 funicular segments. The coxae are dark with the rest of the legs yellow.
